the “ugly duckling”

so i was out “hunting” and found a pretty cool piece….but it was insanely rough!!! i have posted before photos so you can see what i started with. the hardware was hilarious….the color/finish was dated…it had these two strange pieces on the ends that stuck up like there should be another part somewhere…and there was a groove down the center that i cannot even begin to guess what it’s purpose would have been. as i drug it around to check out…i heard people actually laughing at me – really!! (i know because they were also pointing!) and as i look at the before photos, i guess it did look like i was pretty unbalanced! ha!

so…i sanded, and primed and painted and measured. we added a brace down the center to cover the mystery groove…and then added a top and some pretty molding. i sanded and primed and painted some more and then added some cool hardware. then i sealed the whole shebang…and she has gone from quite the ugly duckling to …dare i be so bold??? a SWAN! it’s a really cool buffet piece now! cream and distressed…and i put the top on raised on purpose. (i toyed with cutting off the edges and putting the top on flush….but i like the look of the raised top and thought it would be useful for sliding napkins or placemats or a couple of folded table cloths in there….cookie sheets? serving trays? lots of options. the inside is one large space…which would be perfect for larger serving pieces, tall vases, seldom used kitchen appliances and other things that take up large amounts of space!

i will say this was one of the funnest things i have done just because of the huge transformation! it looks so different now!! i had a blast taking this from ugly duckling to swan!!! even if you don’t plan on purchasing her….i expect lots of positive feedback on how my talent and vision know no bounds. how impressive my rethunking abilities are. how creative i am. what a miracle worker…things of that nature! teehee
this swan can grace your home for $192

Do you still have the monkey dresser? I have tried searching and come up with nothing. If so, what is the price?

    Thanks,
