my husband, the archeologist…

inlay table 1

inlay table 2

it was like watching whoever uncovered king tut’s tomb – i am sure the excitement level was about the same! i brought home this table all covered with paint and stain and dirt…and started sanding and cleaning and priming and my husband walked by. he happens to be the regional rep for about 8 states for a flooring company that deals with hardwood flooring and hi end furniture…and as he walked by he gasped (something he rarely does – not a manly thing to do i guess) and grabbed my paint brush. he then grabbed my little sander and started sanding the top of the table. as i was yelling at him (i mean – sweetly pointing out) that he was getting sawdust all over my fresh paint job…he showed me what he was doing. my indiana jones man had seen the corner of the table and noticed the contrasting wood pattern. he started sanding and found the most beautiful inlay pattern on the top of the table. after several hours of gently sanding and cleaning the end result was gorgeous!!! we distressed the rest of the table and then sealed the top to protect the “king tut’s tomb like” discovery and look how cool it turned out!!!! agatha christie says that being married to an archeologist is great because the older you get the more interested he is in you – HA! – so i am hoping my man’s archeological tendencies continue!
this table is the perfect size for between a couple of chairs or an area where a small coffee table would work.
this piece still available $110.00
