i fell in love with the top drawer (curves always get me!) and the funky very original hardware on this dresser! it’s an antique piece and has lots of personality. i left the store planning on not getting it…and couldn’t quit thinking about it. the amazing friend i was with convinced me that it was pretty awesome (course she wasn’t the one paying either, was she? ha!). she was right, though…it’s a cool piece and you’re ever so glad i got it, huh????

i find that the french provincial pieces are very tricky to find…and if i DO find one, there is an almost 100% chance that half of the stunning hardware is gone or broken. i also find that it’s hard to get a lingerie dresser – anything tall and skinny. well guess what????? i found BOTH!!! in the same piece!!! AND not only is all the beautiful hardware there…all the drawers slide like butter – hee hee – and it’s made by bassett!!!! yee haw!!! pretty incredible find – so if you like french provincial or need something tall and skinny – i gotcha covered!

little side note here: a couple of years ago my parents hosted a family reunion (12 adults and 19 kids all under the age of 16) and mom cracked me up…she had a sign on their bedroom door that said “Open” on one side and “Closed” on the other. very polite way of letting all 29 visitors know when she and dad needed a moment of quiet. i LOVED the idea and have copied it. i looked everywhere for a sign till an amazing girlfriend found one for me. for those of you with children, i highly recommend mom’s idea. we have this sign outside our bedroom door – where i posted this dresser – and it’s wonderful! stops ‘em dead in their tracks! hee hee one more reason to love my mama!

pound dresser

pound 2

pound 3

i have been doing this since june – that’s nine months – and longer if you consider i have been painting furniture for my own home since i got married in 1987…at the age of 7… =D and i have NEVER – seriously – NEVER worked on a piece of furniture this heavy!!! as we were carrying it into the house for me to start my husband commented that i really needed to charge by the pound for this one!! lucky for you, i am not doing that or i’d have to price this at about $6,273 dollars (approximately).

(on a side note – some of you have heard this little ditty…but about once a week as i am requesting that my incredible man carry furniture up the stairs, down the stairs, around the corner, in from the garage, in from the van, into another room, around a corner, etc…as he is semi-cheerfully doing this for me…he invariably suggests that i maybe toss this business and start crocheting doilies…because, as he puts it, i could slip those puppies in a drawer and ship them nationwide and he would gladly carry them all over the house with no complaints at all….one in each hand even!! but alas…i do not crochet!)

so back to this stunning dresser…it’s cream and distressed – nine drawers – two behind the little cabinet- and it’s very well made. it’s a broyhill piece…in fact, what it says is “broyhill premiere” – how super is that??? =D i went with polka dot ribbon for the pulls because i thought it tied in really well with the “polka dot” trim along the top edge…but if ribbon isn’t your thing – i have a couple of other options so feel free to ask! ( i also have a matching armoire to this piece with mirrored doors and lotsa darling drawers.) also – look at the dimensions – this baby is huge – (but in a good way) she’s taller than most dressers and would make a super buffet piece too!
this awesome piece can be yours for $264

retro`

fell in love with the size of this little guy! four drawer dresser – black with silver hardware – a retro looking piece with clean straight lines. this was one of those pieces that reminded me to “look before i leap” into a purchase. grabbed him up before anyone else could….happily paid for him (well – grudgingly paid for him would be more accurate – but i have yet to find a place to get this stuff free!) …picked him up to load him in the van…whistled my way to the van thinking about how cute he was gonna look black…how the hardware would “pop”…lifted him up to load him and … Thunk! – his back fell off!!! completely off!! and made, i must say, quite a clatter – which drew very UNWANTED attention my way! so as i tried to maintain my dignity and pick up his back, yep – you guessed it – i tilted him – and all four drawers slid out onto the parking lot. so now i have to gather the back, four drawers and the main piece of the dresser without looking stressed or upset. it’s almost impossible to trick people into thinking you’ve done something like this on purpose… but i finally got all his little parts loaded and got him safely home. he is now healthier and in better shape than he ever was! he looks good, he works good, and he’s ready to come to your home. for only $ 59.00

black end table

black end table2

i love the older end tables with the one drawer and the storage space…this fit the bill! one drawer on the bottom and a cool shelf space above. i also like the “columns” on each corner and the fact that on this particular table – there is no back on the shelf part – different and neat! this one also has a really neat curve to the top and it distressed really cool! black and distressed – it’s a super little end table – great for the living room or the bedroom! (and the ribbon can be changed out to match whatever color scheme you’d like for no extra charge – think hot pink in a little girls room – red – black and white gingham – polka dots – whatever works in your home!)

cream curved 3

this is a six drawer dresser…clean and classic lines…and the top two drawers have a curve to them. it’s a very fun yet functional piece. the hardware has the same clean and classic feel – brushed nickel and a nice compliment to the interesting lines of the piece. like a lot of dressers, she could be just that…a dresser, or a sideboard or buffet piece in a dining room, or she would be very useful in an entry way since she’s not too long. (i’m assuming with her “curves” she must be a girl…er…woman!)
take her home for only $131!! (that’s a steal!)
and by the way—-the darling chalkboard in the photo is for sale too! really cool – cream frame with brown chalkboard surface – very classy!

so i was shopping for ‘junk’ ha ha and i saw this little table – the carving on the sides and the adorable hardware sucked me in, and i went over to get a closer look at her. i pulled the drawer out and there was a little squeak…and i swear the lady shopping next to me must have jumped 8 feet in the air. she looked over and screamed (in a very “store-appropriate-lady-like-voice”…and yet it was still a scream…) “WAS THAT A MOUSE??” to which i replied by CLOSING the drawer in the hopes that i could watch her jump 8 feet straight up again…and i’ll be darn…she did! i then took pity on her and explained that it was the drawer on the darling table i was looking at…not any type of rodent. she relaxed and i purchased the little table…and now she’s beautiful…de-moused…and ready for you to take home.
